What this Huttese translator does

This page translates a whole sentence from English into Huttese, or from Huttese into English. Huttese is the fictional language associated with Hutt characters in Star Wars stories. Sound designer Ben Burtt shaped it with Quechua-inspired phonetics so the dialogue would sound like a language to an audience. It was built for the ear, not as a complete grammar you could sit an exam in. The translator keeps that limit in view: it prefers a short fan-compiled glossary, and every other word is marked as invented for that sentence.

The Huttese dictionary further down this page is the list the translator is allowed to treat as known. It includes chuba for you or a casual hey you, chowbaso for welcome, boska for let’s go, poodoo for fodder and for the rude insult in bantha poodoo, and mee jewz ku for goodbye. Achuta means hello, h’chu apenkee means greetings, pateesa is friend, sleemo is slimeball, and wermo is a sucker or an idiot. Bargon is a bargain, moulee-rah is money, nobata is no, yocola is the drink in “mee yocola,” and bolla means to go. Pookie and wawa are here because people search for them. They are fan nicknames for buddy and baby, not canon entries. The line fans repeat as Biddy Blas, scrib doon is a 2026 catchphrase from coverage of Star Wars: Galactic Racer, glossed roughly as a name plus “write it down.” It is not the ordinary way to say write.

Nothing here is an official phrase book, and this site is not affiliated with Lucasfilm or Disney. Star Wars is a trademark of Disney/Lucasfilm. The page does not use logos, film stills, or official art. Use a result for a joke, a party line, or a look at how a fan glossary behaves. A dotted word is a guess. Do not treat an invented sentence as canon dialogue, and do not treat Huttese as Quechua or as any living language.

How to translate a sentence

  1. Choose the direction

English to Huttese is for a sentence you already have in English. Huttese to English is for words you already have, including the one-click samples pookie, poodoo, chowbaso, and wawa. The samples fill the box and run Huttese to English.

  2. Type one sentence

A line such as “Welcome, my friend. Let’s go.” gives the glossary more to match than a stack of unrelated nouns. Two characters is the minimum, so a single sample word still runs. Five hundred characters is the maximum. Leave passwords and private names out of the box.

  3. Read the colors

Green is a canon or widely cited word from the list on this page. Gold is a fan nickname such as pookie or wawa. The catchphrase style marks Biddy Blas and scrib doon. A dotted word was invented for this sentence because the glossary had no match. The server applies those colors. The model cannot quietly label an unknown word as canon.

  4. Check the pronunciation and the note

The pronunciation is a reading guide for the Huttese line, not a recording. The note is written in the language of this page and should say which parts were not in the list. On a French, Japanese, or Chinese page the note follows that page, while the two sides of the translation stay English and Huttese.

Sentences and words to try

Welcome, then go

Set the direction to English to Huttese and type “Welcome, my friend. Let’s go.” Chowbaso, pateesa, and boska are the words to look for. Anything else in the Huttese line should stay dotted if it is not in the dictionary below. The pronunciation sits under the line so you can read it aloud.

One rude word

Click the poodoo sample, or type it yourself with Huttese to English. The gloss is fodder, and also the insult in “bantha poodoo.” The note should not invent a plot around a single word. If you type the whole insult, bantha and poodoo are both on the list.

The catchphrase, on purpose

Use English to Huttese only when you want that meme: “Write it down, Biddy Blas.” Scrib doon and Biddy Blas should stay marked as the catchphrase. A normal sentence about writing a letter should not be forced into those two words. They are not general vocabulary.

Tips for a line you can actually read

  • Prefer a sentence you could say out loud. The tool is for one line, not a word-by-word dump of a paragraph.
  • If a word you hoped was canon is dotted, it was not in this fan list. That is the honest result. Do not keep rephrasing until the color turns green.
  • Pookie and wawa are samples because people ask for them. They stay labeled as fan nicknames.
  • Search the dictionary on this page before you assume a word is missing. Chowbaso is also written chowbasa, and mee jewz ku is also written me juuz ku.
  • This page will not draw a portrait, a logo, or a film frame. It is text only, and the share image is a plain card.

Huttese translator questions

What is Huttese?

Huttese is a fictional language heard around Hutt characters in Star Wars stories. It was designed as performed dialogue. Fans later wrote down words from those lines. It is not a natural language with a full published grammar, and this translator does not pretend that it is.

Is Huttese based on Quechua?

The sound is Quechua-inspired. Ben Burtt drew on that phonetic feel so the dialogue would sound like a real language to audiences. Huttese is not Quechua. Speaking one does not mean you speak the other, and this page does not teach Quechua.

How accurate is this Huttese translator?

It is reliable only where the short glossary matches a known fan gloss, and those words are marked. Every other Huttese word is invented for the sentence and marked as invented. A green word is a fan-cited gloss, not a promise that every reference spells it the same way. Do not use the output as a canon script or as a language lesson.

What is in the Huttese dictionary on this page?

A short fan-compiled list: achuta, chowbaso, chuba, boska, poodoo, mee jewz ku, h’chu apenkee, pateesa, sleemo, wermo, bargon, moulee-rah, nobata, yocola, and bolla, plus a few small words that show up inside those lines. Pookie and wawa are fan nicknames. Biddy Blas and scrib doon are a catchphrase. It is not a copy of an official phrase book.

What does Biddy Blas scrib doon mean?

Fans of the 2026 game Star Wars: Galactic Racer repeat “Biddy Blas! Scrib doon!” Coverage glosses the line roughly as a racer telling someone to write that name down. This page files those words as a catchphrase, not as the normal translation of “write.”

Is this an official Star Wars tool?

No. It is fan-made and not affiliated with Lucasfilm or Disney. Star Wars is a trademark of Disney/Lucasfilm. There are no official logos, stills, or character art on this page.
